After about 6 weeks of testing and close on 100 acres, my custom program for the XP Deus 2 metal detector has been upgraded and revamped from 3 tones to 5 tones. Running well on software version 2.0, not tried it on 3.x as of yet. The saying “a field is never done” is so true. Really pleased with the AWK Cobweb from Pawel, really well built and quality parts. While it did take almost a full day to build, the antenna was light enough to single handedly lift 6ft high (to fix onto the antenna mast). While not at the perfect height, I have made contacts on all bands from 6m~40m and all tuned perfectly with the rig ATU. Results on data modes are encouraging (even though only 8ft above the patio at the moment).
Using a housing from AllSkye Optics (brilliant) and an ASI178MC camera it has opened up an opportunity for remote captures of meteors, ISS and satellite flares.
We now have an All Sky camera solution up and running. Initial testing is very encouraging !
First up was a lead token celebrating Queen Victoria jubilee in 1897 – John M Gibson, Outfitter, Boot Merchant, North Street, Scarborough. Quite surprised it was cast in lead ! Second up is sadly, a broken One Groat – Mary I – 1553 – “VERITAS TEMPORIS FILIA” (Truth is the daughter of time)
